Glen Dake, President and Chair, is a landscape architect at DakeLuna Consultants and a leader in building community-designed landscapes, transportation, and school improvements in Southern California neighborhoods where he has practiced since 1987. He helped to found the LA Community Garden Council in 1998, and helped to permanently protect the Vermont Square Community Garden with the Trust for Public Land. Between 2001 and 2005 he served on then-Los Angeles Council Member Eric Garcetti’s staff where he worked on Mr. Garcetti's ambitious green agenda and developed thirteen new parks. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the LA Community Garden Council; and is appointed to the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Fran Diamond, Vice-Chair, is a Board member and four time former Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. She is a founder of the landmark group No Oil, Inc. which successfully saved the Los Angeles coast from on-shore oil drilling. Fran was a Special Assistant on the Environment to Controller Gray Davis. Ms. Diamond is a Member of the City of Los Angeles Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Proposition O, which provides oversight on the expenditure of $500 million approved by Los Angeles voters for water quality improvement programs. She is a member of the Executive Board and Governing Board of Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission and has served on the Los Angeles County Beach Commission. She is a member of the California Women’s Political Committee and the National Women’s Political Caucus. Ms. Diamond has a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in organizational management from Antioch University.

Cristina Uribe, Vice-Chair, serves as the State Director of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center. In that role, Cristina works to strengthen progressive ballot-measure collaboration in California. Cristina, a veteran political strategist, has nearly 20 years of experience in every aspect of the civic engagement field.  Prior to joining BISC in 2015, Cristina served as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director and Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives at the National Education Association (NEA).  Before joining NEA in 2009, Cristina spent over a decade working at senior management levels for some of the most successful organizations and political campaigns, from Defend Oregon to EMILY’s List to the AFL-CIO. Throughout that decade, she oversaw the passage of an innovative living wage ordinance and groundbreaking children’s health initiative, led successful campaigns to defeat regressive ballot initiatives, and expanded the pipeline of women running for elected office. Cristina lives in Oakland, California and is a proud Bay Area native and avid A’s fan.

Carl Guardino, Treasurer, is the President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In 2007, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed him to the California Transportation Commission, and in 2011 and 2015, he was reappointed to the Commission by Governor Brown. In November 2016, Mr. Guardino managed the successful Measure B campaign which authorized a sales tax to fund $6.5 billion in traffic relief and transit improvements for Silicon Valley, the 11th successful initiative campaign he has led or co-led.  He co-created the Housing Trust Fund, which has helped families afford homes in high-cost Silicon Valley by raising more than $90 million in voluntary contributions. He is a member of Junior Achievement's "Silicon Valley Business Hall of Fame" and a recipient of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from City Year, and was the second recipient of the American Public Transit Association's Business Executive of the Year. Mr. Guardino serves on the boards of California Forward and the California League of Conservation Voters. He received a BA in political science from San Jose State University, where he is a Distinguished Alumnus.

Victoria Rome, Secretary, is the California Legislative Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where she works with the state legislature and administrative agencies to further the environmental community’s agenda. She works to enact laws to reduce exposure to pollution and toxic chemicals, combat climate change, and foster California’s clean energy economy. Before joining the staff of NRDC, Victoria was the legislative coordinator for California Youth Connection, a non-profit foster youth advocacy organization. She also worked in the California State Capitol as a legislative consultant for the Assembly Human Services Committee and former Assemblymembers Tom Bates and Dion Aroner. She holds a B.A. in political science from UCLA and an M.A. in international affairs from California State University, Sacramento. Victoria lives in El Cerrito with her husband and two sons.

Rick Zbur, Chair Emeritus, is CLCV’s immediate past board chair and serves as the Executive Director of Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization. Previously he was a senior partner in the Environment, Land & Resources Department in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was cited as one of Southern California’s top ten environmental attorneys by the Los Angeles Business Journal in its 2009 "Who's Who in Law" feature. He was also cited as a leading environmental attorney by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2008 and 2009. Mr. Zbur took a leave of absence from the firm in January, 1996, to run for Congress in California’s 38th Congressional District. He received the strong support from the environmental community, and was endorsed by the California League of Conservation Voters and virtually every other leader of the environmental community in Southern California. He won the Democratic Party Primary in March, 1996 and lost narrowly in the general election. He received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a JD from Harvard Law School.

Matt Abularach-Macias, Staff Advisor, is the CA Voices Program Coordinator focused in the Inland Valley Region. Raised in the Inland Empire (Rialto and Rancho Cucamonga), Matt has been able to bring his local knowledge to his work focused in the region to build partnerships and amplify community concerns about the impacts of climate change, the local benefits from investments in clean energy, and the critical need to conserve and protect our environment. His work with CLCV EF is an extension of his previous work organizing around educational access, LGBT rights, and anti-racism issues. Matt graduated from UCLA with a degree in Chicana/o Studies and worked in 2014 on the successful campaign to elect Pete Aguilar to the US Congress.

Bryan Blum is the Political Director of the California Labor Federation. The California Labor Federation is the largest state labor federation in the nation, representing over 2 million members of 1,200 manufacturing, transportation, construction, service, and public sector unions. As Political Director, Blum is responsible for devising and implementing strategies that help labor achieve electoral victories and build ongoing capacity and power for labor in California. During Blum’s tenure labor has won significant statewide ballot measure campaigns, helped elect labor allies to every statewide office in California, increased the number of elected labor allies to Congress from California, and helped elect 2/3 super-majorities in both chambers of the California Legislature. He has served as Political Director since 2004. Prior to that, Blum spent 15 years as a campaign consultant and campaign manager for gubernatorial, congressional and legislative campaigns in Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Iowa, and Illinois, as well as California.

Todd Campbell is the Vice President of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs for Clean Energy. Prior to joining Clean Energy, he served as the Policy and Science Director for the Coalition for Clean Air. Mr. Campbell was elected to the Burbank City Council in 2003 and finished his first term of office as Mayor. As Mayor of the City of Burbank, he promoted renewable natural gas production at the City's landfill and natural gas transit and refuse collection services to improve overall residential quality of life. He sits on the Board of Directors for the California-based Coalition for Clean Air and The Energy Coalition. Mr. Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in government at Georgetown University, a master’s degree in environmental management at Yale University, and a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Southern California.

Dan Chia is a Senior Manager in Business Development and Policy at Tesla. Previously, he was Director of Policy and Electricity Markets for SolarCity, where he managed legislative and political affairs in California and Nevada. Mr. Chia has more than 15 years’ experience in government affairs involving environmental and energy policy and regulation. Prior to SolarCity, he worked for the California Public Utilities Commission as Deputy Director of its Office of Government Affairs and as personal and committee staff for four California State Assemblymembers, including three consecutive Chairs of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee. He has also served as a Coastal Program Analyst for the California Coastal Commission, regulating on the impacts of energy and other industrial projects on coastal resources. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from UC Davis and a Master’s in Public Policy from UC Berkeley.

Lauren Faber-O’Connor is the Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Previously she was West Coast Political Director for the Environmental Defense Fund, where her work focused on building support with governmental leaders, business, and environmental counterparts to advance key policies in the areas of climate, energy, oceans, land, water, and wildlife. Prior to joining EDF, Ms. Faber-O’Connor worked at the California Environmental Protection Agency, where she was appointed Assistant Secretary for Climate Change Programs in 2010. Ms. Faber-O’Connor serves on the U.S. Department of Energy State Energy Advisory Board, is a member of the Truman National Security Project Political Partnership, and a Catto Fellow for environmental leadership at the Aspen Institute. She obtained her bachelor’s degrees in Earth Systems and Economics from Stanford University, and master’s degree in Climate and Society from Columbia University.

Macaria Flores is City Executive - Big Urban Clients at ARCADIS U.S. Inc. Prior to joining ARCADIS, she was Vice President of Cerrell Associates’ Energy and Environment practice area. She also worked at the City of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works as a Government/Legislative liaison for the Bureau of Sanitation, where she developed a legislative blueprint for the City’s proposed alternative technology facilities. Ms. Flores served as policy director for Los Angeles City Councilmember Tony Cardenas, where she successfully redeveloped brownfield properties for commercial and recreational use, enacted policy implementing a green taxi fleet for the city, and worked on permitting the city’s lone LEED certified state-of-the art materials recovery facility. Ms. Flores began her career as an Environmental Scientist with the California Environmental Protection Agency, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Los Angeles Region. Ms. Flores received a degree in environmental studies, public policy and management from the University of Southern California.

Lisa Hoyos is the Director and the Co-Founder of Climate Parents, a national organization of parents and families mobilizing for clean energy and climate solutions. She has been a campaigner in the labor and environmental movements for over twenty years, working with such organizations as the BlueGreen Alliance, the national AFL-CIO, and Greenpeace. Lisa also served as a committee staffer to the California Senate Natural Resources Committee under Senator Tom Hayden. Lisa's international experience includes working on global justice issues with the Congress of South African Trade Unions as well as coordinating an international coalition focused on fair and equitable trade policy. She is a member of the San Francisco Commission on the Environment. Lisa is Latina and bilingual. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two school-aged boys.

Doug Linney is the president of The Next Generation which advances the environmental agenda by offering campaign services and political strategy to nonprofit organizations, environmental coalitions, and progressive candidates. Mr. Linney has run over 100 electoral and issue campaigns at the state, regional, and local level and has specialized in water, energy, forestry, transportation, and environmental tax reform issues. In 2002, he was recognized with the Mark Dubois River Conservationist Award given by Friends of the River. His environmental service includes past or present membership on the boards of directors for Friends of the River, ecoVenture, Green Capitol, the Planning and Conservation League, and the Coalition for Clean Air. He is also an elected board-member to the East Bay Municipal Utility District. From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Linney was the Political Director of the California League of Conservation Voters. He has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from UC Davis.

David Nahai is President of David Nahai Consulting Services, LLC, which specializes in the renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water sectors. He is also a partner at the law firm of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith and co-chair of its energy, water, and real estate practice areas. Mr. Nahai is the former General Manager and Commission President of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). Mr. Nahai is also the former Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, serving in the administrations of 3 California Governors. He sits on the Boards of the California League of Conservation Voters, Heal the Bay, and UCLA Luskin Center, and has received numerous commendations for his environmental leadership, including awards from the Sierra Club, Heal the Bay, and Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. Mr. Nahai holds graduate and post-graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and UC Berkeley.

Andrew Okun has been a Board member of the California League of Conservation Voters since 2000. He is currently the president of the American Go Association and was a board member of the AGA from 2008-2012. He received a BSc in Physics from University College London, and a Diploma in International and Comparative Politics and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.  He worked previously as a legal journalist and in the music industry as co-owner of Cherry Lane Music Publishing.

Wendy-Sue Rosen is a community advocate, land use policy consultant and environmental activist. She currently serves on eight boards dealing with issues ranging from responsible and balanced land use policies, air & water quality, protection of the Santa Monica Mountains, open space preservation, public access to trails, wildlife connectivity, and the health of the environment. In her work she has been recognized by city, state and federal agencies and elected officials. In 2007 Wendy was named “Woman of the Year” by then-Assemblymember Mike Feuer. “I am very excited that Wendy-Sue is AD 42’s Woman of the Year. Her passion for civic involvement, community engagement and environmental activism represents many of the shared values of my district. Her willingness to lead many of these causes is illustrative of what can be accomplished when people of good will work for our common benefit. She has lead efforts to improve water quality, protect wildlife, preserve our environment and support public access to open space.” Wendy works tirelessly with the hope that together we can find solutions to conquer the climate crisis and end global warming, bringing balance back to the planet.

Nancy Sutley is Chief Sustainability and Economic Development Officer at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Previously, she served as Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality from January 2009 to February 2014 and was one of the chief architects of President Obama’s June 2013 Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution, prepare the U.S for the impacts of climate change, and lead international efforts to address climate change. Prior to her appointment to the Council on Environmental Quality, Sutley was the Deputy Mayor for Energy and Environment for the City of Los Angeles under Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and represented Los Angeles on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. She served on the California State Water Resources Control Board from 2003-2005 and held positions at US EPA. Sutley received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her Master of Public Policy from Harvard University.

Parin Shah leads up and advances Asian Pacific Environmental Network’s environmental justice policy and communications portfolio. Prior to APEN, Parin was with Green For All, where he worked with cities and counties across the US on environmental equity policies. In 2004, he founded the Urban Accords Institute, which in 2005 co-hosted the UN World Environment Day in San Francisco, out of which was developed the Urban Environmental Accords—a road map for creating green cities. From 2000-04, as the President of the Commission on the Environment for the City and County of San Francisco, he co-authored ground-breaking legislation on climate change, environmental justice, wetlands conservation and restoration, zero waste, green buildings, and food security. Parin has also developed and managed habitat restoration projects, horticultural education, and job-training programs for formerly incarcerated youth and adults in San Francisco.
