Just as photovoltaics offer an excellent opportunity to use clean renewable energy to generate electricity, solar hot water heaters are an effective and viable alternative to water heated by natural gas. And just as the state recently implemented a “million solar roof” program to help defray the cost of converting to photovoltaics, AB 1470 (Huffman) creates a $250 million program to encourage homeowners to install solar hot water heaters.
